Indian Express, Saregama HMV in strategic tie-up for marketing classical music

Indian Express and Saregama-HMV have joined hands to present the Indian Express Heritage Classical Music Series with the aim of promoting Indian classical and semi-classical music. The series will contain a huge repertoire of classical and semi-classical music and feature some of the most eminent exponents of Indian classical music.

Speaking about the association, Gautam Mukerjea, Head, Corporate Business Development, Indian Express Group, said, "We see this as an opportunity to provide support to classical music and bring superlative and rare music to music lovers. Today, when we have a plethora of remixes and popular music, it is all the more imperative to promote our classical music forms and build interest in them among the next generation."

Kulmeet Makkar, CEO, Saregama-HMV Music, added, "It's an initiative to bring back the prestigious and rare recordings of the legendary classical artistes for the lovers of purest form of Indian music. Through this association with Indian Express, we expect to promote these recordings and the artistes on our 'f irst LP record series' and the concerts across the country."

The Indian Express is supporting this series to help build interest, understanding and enthusiasm about the Indian classical music forms, especially among the younger generation of music buffs.

The featured eight albums are packaged in a special collector's pack, featuring artiste information, rare photographs and the original LP record cover replica, making it a rare opportunity to treasure immortal performances. The albums have all been re-synthesised and high sound quality reproductions brought out on CDs.
