Impresario executes Grand Kerala Shopping Fest

The sixth edition of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF), the signature shopping festival of Kerala, kicked off on December 15 at Kozhikode. The shopping festival will be on till January 31, 2013.

The objective of the festival is to make the state an international shopping destination over a period of five years and create employment to develop traditional global centres.

Earlier, the Government of Kerala had called for event managers from among the top event management companies in the state, which was then followed by a bid. Based on the competency of the event companies, Impresario was selected to manage the event.

Speaking on the new dimensions for the sixth edition of GKSF, Harish Babu, Managing Director, Impresario Event Management Company said, “This year, GKSF intends to take a new dimension, where the shopping experience includes service shopping along with the regular. While promoting the products of the state, it will emphasise the services it can render to discerning buyers. Fresh enterprises, incredible offers, and exciting prizes – both for shops and shoppers will be a reality through GKSF.”

This festival converts the entire state of Kerala into a giant shopping mall, incorporating thousands of big players along with the small and medium scale industries.

Speaking about the challenges faced, Babu added, “An event like this is a challenging task, and to bring all the brands together and ensure that all of them have equal brand visibility is the toughest job.”

There were pre-promotional activities such as road shows, cultural nights, and lucky draws across all districts. A grand award night will be held to recognise outstanding contributions in several categories such as Tourism, Sports, Business Excellence, Digital Media, Journalism, Film, and Law & Order, etc.

Another major attraction is the Global Village, a unique concept of bringing the entire globe under a single roof. Around 400 stalls have been featured across seven pavilions. Global Village will bring together the culture of various countries at a single venue.

The Kerala pavilion showcases handicrafts, handlooms, spices, coir, rubber, spices, cashews, coconut carvings, traditional sarees, etc., from the state while the National Pavilion houses various stalls dedicated to the other Indian states.

‘Brand Pavilion’ provides an opportunity for home-based brands as well as national and international brands to showcase their products and services. The branding opportunities include promotional kiosks, ‘official beverage partner’, ‘official travel partner’, ‘official insurance partner’, ‘official hospitality partner’, ‘official communication partner’, ‘daily entertainment sponsor’, and more.
