Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) may look into the option of extending services like Lakme Beauty Salons and Ayush Therapy Center to a second level, targeting the popular segment. While such a move is not on cards immediately, HLL could explore the option at a later date as and when the opportunity arises, HLL vice-chairman MK Sharma said on the sidelines of a preview of Mumbai’s first Ayush Therapy Center.
“In products we have the option of having various price points to cater to a varied consumer base. We could also think of a similar strategy in services like Lakme Beauty Salons and Ayush Therapy Center. However, at this point there is a lot of scope to expand in the urban markets itself. Such services will continue to be targeted at the urban market. We may have to explore the option of taking it to the second level say, five to ten years down the line,” said Mr Sharma.
HLL executive director (new ventures) Dalip Sehgal said that the company is targeting 30 Ayush Therapy Centers across the country by the end of the year. The Ayush personal and healthcare range is a joint venture between the Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore) and HLL. It is part of HLL’s new ventures which, the company hopes, would become profitable business supports in the future. The first Ayush Therapy Center in Mumbai is being inaugurated on May 11.
