And before we know it, the exchange4media Conclave 2011 is here already. Thought leaders and visionaries – from India and the globe – convene on July 12 in New Delhi at The LaLit to take on conversations that impact all aspects of the Indian communication services industry.
The Special Speakers’ line-up begins with Harkirat Singh, Managing Director, Woodland India, who is speaking on ‘Tapping a New India’s Audience… Creating Conversations for Changing Consumers…’. Woodland is amongst the few brands that have silently used social media to make the right noises with the target audience. As Singh speaks on the Conclave, he cites some of those examples to share what communication in the new age can be about.
Following him is Hernan Sanchez Neira, CEO, Havas Media Intelligence, who speaks on ‘Of Meaningful Communications’. Traditionally, branding theory has been built in Anglo-Saxon markets with the understanding that consumer demand for products would never stop growing. Marketing and advertising’s role was to isolate consumer "segments" and focus on hitting these "targets". Another basic way to build awareness was to apply "carpet bombing" techniques that enabled the brands to have a huge impact on a consumer who´s attention was totally captured by mass media. This model is showing significant decreasing returns for brands. In this new era, we have to rewrite our approach to, and our definition of, success, and Neira will tell the audience just how.
One of the sharpest media minds of this generation, Jasmin Sohrabji, CEO, Omnicom Media Group, India, takes on the stage next, as she speaks on ‘Co-creation and Collaboration… Connecting with Connected Consumer’. The changing consumer, the changing advertiser and the changing communication industry – how are companies connecting the dots to reach the consumer.
The action in Delhi would just be beginning with these stalwarts. The Keynote Speaker of the day, Chitranjan Dar, CEO, ITC Foods, with Session Chairperson R Gowthaman, Leader, Mindshare South Asia, will go deeper in the conversations in the second half.
And following that would be another Special Speaker who would be on an Indian stage for the first time – Starcom MediaVest Group’s handpicked leader for the Emerging Markets including India, Thierry Jadot. As EVP – Emerging Markets and CEO - Starcom MediaVest Group France, Jadot is mandated with the challenging role of developing SMG further in the growth markets. His address is titled, ‘Making Marketing Communications More Effective’. While it has become fashionable to say communications planning instead of media planning, is the industry investing the right tools and research to create relevant touch points of connecting with the Connected Audience? Jadot will share global examples of success that the Indian industry can benefit from.
And finishing it on the right note, the Plenary Session of the day will assemble the marketer, the communication service brand and the media owner on the same side of the conversation. The Session Keynote Speaker Sameer Suneja, MD, Perfetti Van Melle India, will speak on ‘Changing Consumer, Evolving Marketer… Realigning Media to Meet Expectations’, setting the tone on how these three constituents can collaborate to connect with the changing consumer. The Session Chairperson is Srikant Sastri, Country Chair, VivaKi India and the elite speakers include Sam Balsara, Chairman and MD, Madison World, and Rajiv Verma, CEO, HT Media.
The exchange4media Group organises its flagship event exchange4media Conclave every year as an attempt to bring industry stakeholders – corporates, media service brands and media owners – on the same platform to discuss the changing global communication industry, with specific focus on India.
Taking off from the event last year, where the discussions focussed on ‘Rebooting the Indian Media and Advertising Industry’, the theme of the event this year is: ‘Reshaping Media Priorities for the New Marketing Era’.
The exchange4media Conclave 2011 would take place in two cities -- New Delhi (at The LaLit) and Mumbai (at ITC Grand Central).
The exchange4media Conclave is the only national forum that is dedicated to the media service brands part of the advertising business. In addition to media service brands, the exchange4media Conclave has advertisers at its core. The Conclave brings under scanner various aspects that impact these two sections including the business structure of media service brands and the media environment media agencies and advertisers operate in while communicating with consumers.
The previous Keynote Speakers include Irwin Gotlieb, CEO, GroupM, Mainardo de Nardis, CEO, OMD Worldwide, and Tim Love, CEO, Omnicom APAC in 2010. The Keynote Speakers in 2009 included Andrew Rashbass, CEO, The Economist; Mark Patterson, CEO, GroupM APAC; and Asit Mehra, Vice President, Omnicom Worldwide.
