Colgate increases market share on back of strong volume growth

Colgate-Palmolive (India) has reported a 17 per cent increase in topline for the nine months ending December 31, 2012 in the latest quarterly results released on January 30, 2013.

Net sales for the nine months ended December 31, 2012 stood at Rs 2,272.5 crore. Reported net profit for the nine months stood at Rs 373.6 crore, up 18 per cent from the same period of the previous year.

According to data released by the company, the toothpaste volume market share has increased to 54.2 per cent (January 2012 – December 2012) as against 52.4 per cent for the same period of the previous year, whereas the toothbrush volume market share has increased by 370 basis points to 39.5 per cent (January 2012 – December 2012) as against 35.8 per cent for the same period of the previous year.

In the mouthwash category, the company registered a volume market share of 26.7 per cent (January 2012 – December 2012).
