ESPN acquires telecast right of cricket highlights

ESPN has acquired the telecast rights of daily highlights of all international cricket series played in India till October 2004 from Pacific Century Corporation (PCC).

As per the original plans of PCC, the match highlights were to be aired on the NOW channel of PCC.

According to ESPN Star Sports, starting with the first test of the India-West Indies series starting on October 9, both ESPN and Star Sports will air the India cricket highlights including comprehensive analysis of all international cricket played in India.

The highlights will be aired on each match day on Star Sports at 8.00 p.m. and a repeat telecast on ESPN at 11.30 p.m.for one and a half hour.

The other series highlights of which would be aired on ESPN Star Sports are India vs New Zealand in October 2003, India vs Pakistan February 2004 and India vs Australia in September 2004.

ESPN Star Sports commentary team for the upcoming India vs West Indies series highlight will comprise Sunil Gavaskar, Bobby Simpson, Ravi Shastri, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Harsha Bhogle and Alan Wilkins.
