B4U bails out DD

Minita Kumar

With pressure mounting on DD to telecast the FIFA World Cup Soccer, and all negotiations with Taj Sports having reached a dead lock, the recent development would definitely give DD as well as the Indian Soccer fans a reason to celebrate. B4U has acquired the terrestrial rights of FIFA World Cup Soccer from Taj Sports, for telecast on Doordarshan in India.

Says Debashis Dey, head distribution at B4U, "All 64 matches would be telecast in the form of 1-hour highlights and the opening match, semi-finals and finals would be telecast in full version."

Given that DD has an overall reach of 70 million television homes, a vast soccer loving audience is expected to view this major world-sporting event. The World Cup series is also being relayed live by Taj Sports on their satellite channel Ten Sports.
