The countdown for the 11th Auto Expo begins. Auto Expo 2012 is all set to vroom into action from January 5 to 11, 2012 at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan.
Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) recalled that the “In 2010, we had celebrated our silver jubilee and today it had become a mega event.” At this show, which is said to be the largest automotive show in India, this time, there will be a massive surge of overseas participation, larger contingents from Germany and China, plus a strong presence of Indian manufacturers with 16, 10 hangers and outdoor space hogging all of 115000 square metres.
“The auto industry is becoming the pride of the Indian industry, in fact it is becoming a major player internationally,” observed Rajive Kaul, Chairman, Steering Committee, Auto Expo 2012. International attention on the Indian automotive industry is at its peak today. In contrast to the developed markets that are stagnant or declining, India is one of the few markets that showing growth, and also has a vast growth potential in the near future. Fact is, the world is looking at India to drive future growth in the auto sector. Almost every foreign vehicle manufacturer has a presence in India and those who do not have, are expected to enter shortly.
“All eyes 2012are currently on India,” reiterated S Sandiliya, President, SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association of India). “Based on the feedback, we have made changes this time,” he added.
Considering the current lull in the market, the Auto Expo will whip up a lot excitement. With the theme – ‘Mobility for all’ it will fan the aspirations of Indian consumers, and also position India as a champion of Green Mobility.
There will be a lot action during the event. The Auto Expo will witness the launch of some 5o vehicles, along with the display of world-class vehicles and designs. India-specific products will also be unveiled. Component manufacturers will announce major innovations, also in the area of green technology.
From the component industry, there is a strong presence among the exhibitors. They come from far-flung countries like – Canada, Belarus, people’s Republic of China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey and UAE. The Indian component industry too has spread to international markets. Today global players exist side-by-side with their Indian counterparts. So, global component manufacturers like Visten, Delphi, magna, Continental exist along with the Indian manufacturers. Tyre majors like Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Dunlop, Continental are seen along with Indian brands like Apollo, JK, MRK and others.
Around 1500 participants from 24 countries will be taking part in this show. Companies from Germany, People’s Republic of China, Canada, France, Italy, Japan and UK have confirmed their participation, as Chandrajit Banerjee disclosed.
The first day of the Auto Expo – January 5, is dedicated as a Goodwill Day.
This event is organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA).
