Adidas, the leading sports accessories brand in the world, expects the Indian market to be its growth driver in Asia.
The sports major is contemplating to sponsor the National Football League (NFL) in the next season as a part of its promotional strategy in India.
The director marketing of Adidas India Marketing, H Feddersen, said here that the company is rolling out its retail chain in India in a big way.
"We are virtually opening new stores in every week here in India so we want to be associated with big event like NFL because worldwide Adidas is the biggest football brand," he said.
Adidas is also associated with the Fifa world cup this year.
Feddersen was in Kolkata for the launch of Adidas challenge cup in Kolkata.
Adidas is conducting the tournament worldwide and one team from each participating nation would play the final round in Berlin in first week of June.
According to Feddersen, the company currently has 120 stores across the country. It is planning to add 100 new stores in the current financial year.
"We are now going to tier-2 cities like Meerut and Agra. We are now present in 70 cities in India," he said.
The Adidas marketing director said he expected the company to achieve healthy double digit growth in the current fiscal.
"We are on the fast growth track and I am confident of at least 50 per cent growth this year," he added.
