Kids channels line up special programmes for Children’s Day.

Children can look forward to a non-stop bonanza on their special day on November 14 with all kids’ channels lining up attractive programmes for the little ones.

Cartoon Network and its sister channel, POGO, have an exciting mix of programmes and movies for November 14. There will be a special programming block called ‘Thoda Meow Thoda Bow’ from 9:00 am to 5 pm on Cartoon Network featuring classics like Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, Sylvester and Tweety.

This will be followed by the telecast of the brand new action packed series called ‘Duel Masters’ at 6 pm. Apart from that, the brand new season of the highly popular Digimon adventures called ‘Digimon Adventures Zero Two’, will be telecast at 6:30 pm in its 3D-animated action-packed programming block – Toonami.

POGO, on the other hand, plans to keep kids glued to their TV sets by showcasing a remarkable line up of movies and shows throughout the day. The day will commence with ‘The Care Bears Movie’ at 8:00 am followed by a two-hour capsule of ‘The Best of Tiny TV’, at 10:00 am.

As the day progresses, children will get to enjoy some more exciting programmes and can catch up with the fun filled movie, ‘Follow that Bird’ at 12 noon. Pre-schoolers, can watch their favourite programmes ‘Noddy’ and ‘Oswald’ for one hour each, starting at 2 pm. The ‘POGO Amazing Kids Award 2004’, will be telecast at 4:00 pm, besides the day will also mark the premiere of the classic television series- R K Narayan’s ‘Malgudi Days’, at 8:30 pm.

And there’s more, the one-year old, Hungama TV is going to launch its biggest animation show – Yugioh – on November 14, which will be aired from Monday to Friday at 5 pm. Children could catch a sneak preview of the show on November 13, informed Zarina Mehta, Head of Programming, Hungama TV.

Interestingly, with the launch of this Japanese animated show, Hungama TV is going to venture into merchandising and will thereby mark its presence in the consumer products space. The channel has of late been giving lot of prominence to interactivity with shows like, Hungama Fungama, which was launched on October 30. The channel organised the first mini marathon for children, Hungamathon, in Mumbai in October and has similar plans for Delhi and Kolkata as well.

According to company officials, such initiatives gave kids the opportunity to touch and feel the brand rather than simply be targeted with one-way advertising messages.

Disney, too, has got some special plans for the day. As part of its special programming, the channel will air the movie ‘Mickey Donald Goofie - The Three Musketeers’ at 3.30 pm. Besides, a special puppet-based interstitial feelers called Lapet Papet would be aired throughout the day, informed Nachiket Pantvaidya, Director Production and Programming, Walt Disney Television International (India).
