Jetix gets a Boost for Season 2 of ‘Jetix Action League’

Jetix is all set to host the Jetix Action League 2.0 in association with Boost in January 2009. The initiative will reward the five best school teams across five cities with a grant of Rs 1 lakh to each team and a Jetix Action League Games Trophy.

Starting January 24, Jetix Action League will engage kids in unique outdoor activities across Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Visakhapatnam. This five city inter-school sports event will take the Jetix thrill on-ground in partnership with Boost to promote the positive values of teamwork and camaraderie among school children.

Speaking on the initiative, Antoine Villeneuve, MD and Senior VP, Walt Disney Television International (India), said, “Jetix Action League embodies team spirit, positive energy and fun. We aim to engage kids in outdoor activities while ensuring that they understand the positive values of action and adventure.”

Jetix jumpstarted this ‘sports day with a twist’ through a focused school contact programme across 500 schools, encouraging students to team up for this unique sports event. The channel is inviting participation of students in the 7-14 age group across all cities.

Commenting on the partnership of Boost and Jetix to promote similar values through this sports event, Pawan Sud, GM, Marketing, Other Nutritionals, GSKCH India, said, “Boost has been synonymous with energy and a winning attitude. A fact well substantiated by our association with India’s sports icons like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag and Ishant Sharma.”

“We aim to encourage youngsters to go out and play, and benefit from the invaluable lessons sports can teach in life. Association with Jetix for the Jetix Action League is in line with the brand’s philosophy by giving kids an opportunity to indulge in sports,” Sud added.

In addition to the cash prizes and the Jetix Action League Games Trophy, there will be spot prizes for the ‘Best cheerleading team’, ‘Team with best painted faces’, ‘The loudest school team’, and so on, during the event.

The game play will be unconventional and will involve physical and mental skills. This sports day in each city will commence in an outdoor set-up, witnessing participation of over 3,000 kids in each city. Post the inaugural ceremony, the team captains will hoist their team flags and thereafter begin the competition. A Live performance with music and dance during the event will add to the zest and fervor of the competition.

The schedules for the different cities are: Hyderabad on January 24, Chennai on February 7, Bangalore on February 10, Visakhapatnam on February 17, and Coimbatore on January 31.
