Disney comes calling on schools with ‘Masti ki Patshala’

Disney Channel is conducting an on ground event for school children in the 6-14 age group, called ‘Masti ki Patshala’, across the country. The channel has tapped 75 schools in Kolkata alone and hopes to bring cheer to over 75,000 school kids in the Eastern metro.

Elaborating on the initiative, K Sheshasaye, Associate Director, Corporate Communications, Walt Disney International (India), said, “This is an on ground event that we use for building better connect for our on-air shows. School contact programmes give us the bandwidth to reach out to kids across India in building an emotional connect with the Disney characters and our shows.”

“An on ground experience is usually the one that builds on the on air experience that kids enjoy and experience. So we are able to reinforce the Disney story lines or characters that they see on TV through these events,” he further said.

Audio visual promos of Disney channel’s four shows – ‘That’s so Raven’, ‘Lizzie Mcguire’, ‘Suite life of Jack and Cody’, and ‘Recess and American Dragon: Jake Long’ – were aired in the schools as part of the promotional exercise.

Quizzes, games, on-the-spot contests, dances, and jokes sessions were also held with Disney goodies given out as prizes. All the students received Disney kits with giveaways like animated time tables, label stickers, etc. One lucky winner will be selected from each school on a form based contest, who will win Disney shoes and Disney channel game toys.

“Our content is all about what kids love and parents trust. School children are our audience and this is our way of talking to our audience,” Sheshasaye said.
