At
the Hindi Service we have
recently shifted our primary
focus from Radio to Online
and we have a 24/7 multimedia
website with a focus on text,
video, interactive and audio
content which defines the
round the clock editorial
agenda of our service. With
the majority of our staff
mainly located in Delhi, we
have also have a smaller London
bureau. Our output aims to
make international news relevant
to an Indian audience, and
bring international perspectives
to bear on Indian and global
developments. We report in
a lively and engaging fashion,
and interactivity forms a
large part of our content
across all platforms. Online
content may be syndicated
to partners and they form
a significant part of the
distribution portfolio. As
a Multimedia Producer, you’ll
write and create original
material for all multimedia
output, including text stories,
radio bulletins and video
reports.

| Role |
Working
in a team of multimedia journalists,
you’ll report to a either
a Service Editor or Editor.
You’ll originate research,
prepare, produce and present
items, reports, packages, interviews,
features, discussions, complete
programmes, background pieces,
analysis, news features and
"clusters". As well
as this you’ll also report
in text, audio and video from
the field in a range of formats
and create, produce and maintain
Hindi Service online and multimedia
content including making output
interactive. From suggesting
new angles on existing stories
to offering ideas for items,
you’ll be responsible
for thinking through and around
editorial problems and developing
realistic strategies and approaches.
As
well as being able to freshen
up a story, you’ll conduct
interviews either in the studio
or on location, live or pre-recorded.
You’ll liaise closely
with other team members and
with contributors, reporters
and stringers and you’ll
also build and maintain links
with other areas of the BBC
including BBC WS Online and
BBC News. Amending & updating
material as required, you’ll
perform live on audio or video
with or without a script.
And you’ll ensure that
any output material for which
you’re responsible meets
the standards required by
the BBC. The nature of the
role means that shift work
may be required which could
include nights, weekends and
public holidays.

| Requirements |
With
a full command and up to date
knowledge of Hindi as first
(or equivalent) language, you’ll
also have a complete comprehension
of written and spoken English
with the ability to communicate
effectively. Alongside your
ability to write, adapt and
translate with accuracy, clarity
and a style appropriate to differing
audiences and forms of media,
it will also need to be suitable
for multimedia output. With
substantial recent and relevant
full-time experience as a journalist,
both in originating material
and editing the work of others,
you’ll have a demonstrable
interest in working in a multimedia
environment. |
