Punjabi dailies seem to be in consolidation mood. Though Punjabi Tribune was always far behind in the race, it seems to is dragging feet to remain in the field. The daily has lost 1.12 lakh average issue readers, as per the IRS 2011 Q1 data, over 2010 Q1.
That leaves Ajit and Jag Bani to fight it out. While the former saw its AIR rise by 67,000 over 10.63 lakh in 2010 Q1, Jag Bani reported a marginal loss of 3,000 average issue readers, clocking an AIR of 10.29 lakh, a loss of 0.29 per cent.
As far as the growth for Any Punjabi Daily is concerned, the loss is of 50,000 (-2.24 per cent) average issue readers, over an AIR of 22.34 lakh in 2010 Q1.
