Even as the IRS 2010 Q4 numbers show de-growth in the radio category, Radio City has managed to stay way ahead of the others by being the only radio station witnessing growth.
Radio City has grown by 22 per cent in Gujarat, with a 43 per cent increase in Ahmedabad. It has grown by 8.1 per cent in the South markets, with a 30 per cent increase in Hyderabad. In Lucknow, too, Radio City 91.1 FM continues to dominate by being a consistent number 1. In Pune, too, the radio player has seen a growth of 28 per cent. Other key cities where it has grown are Surat, Vadodara, Chennai and Solapur.
Commenting on the performance. Apurva Purohit, CEO, Radio City 91.1 FM, said, “We are very pleased with the IRS results. Radio City has outgrown the category across all operating stations. Our focus has been on understanding and catering to the needs of the listeners. We have managed to constantly provide the right mix of good music, exciting content. It was only natural that we bucked the trend of de-growth. We are sure that with the hard work put in, going forward, we would only see a further improvement.”
