Decline in readership of Assamese publications in last few Quarters of IRS (Indian Readership Survey) has given depressing numbers. While in Q2 results of IRS, Any Assamese daily have seen decline, however, in the next two consecutive Quarters, they managed to get a hike in readership. Meanwhile, magazines have also met with the same fate in the last three Quarter’s results of IRS 2010.
The most read daily of the state, Asomiya Pratidin, with ups and downs throughout the year has registered AIR of 12.05 Lac in the Q4 results. Meanwhile, second most read daily of the Assamese language domain, Asomiya Khabar, has recorded AIR of 3.63 Lac in Q4 results.
Dainik Agradoot, in Q4 results of IRS, has scored AIR of 2.40 Lac. The daily had seen constant decline in readership throughout last three Quarters. However, Dainik Janambhumi did not see any change in the AIR numbers in Q2 and Q3 results but Dainik Aasam witnessed declining trends in all last three quarters.
In Assamese language magazine domain, Bismoi has recorded AIR of 3.46 Lac in Q4 results of IRS. It can be noted that the magazine has seen decline in readership in Q2 and Q3 results but regained the growth path in Q4 results of IRS.
With invariable decline in AIR numbers in last three Quarters, Sadin has managed to get AIR of 2.57 Lac in Q4 results. Priyo Sakhi, has gained AIR of 2.24 Lac in the Q4 results. Here, it is to be noted that in Q2 the magazine had witnessed decline while in Q3 it had seen rise in the readership numbers. In the same lines, Nandini had AIR of 2.14 Lac in Q4 result of IRS 2010.
