With Vivo IPL wrapping up on May 30, the viewership data of its sixth week is out. According to the latest data, the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 16 recorded maximum viewership of 23 million impressions across its official broadcasters like Sony Max, Sony Six (SD+HD) and Sony ESPN (SD+HD). On Sony Max it garnered 16 million impressions followed by 5 million impressions on Sony Six and 1.6 million impressions on Sony ESPN.
Earlier the tussle between these two teams on May 2 garnered 20 million impressions, highest for the tournament’s fourth week. It’s to be noted that both these games were played on Monday.
The sixth week got an average of 15 million impressions across all the five channels, similar to last week. Sony Max continued earning the highest average of 11 million impressions followed by sports channels Sony Six (3 million impressions) and Sony ESPN (1 million impressions).
The Hindi movie channel slipped back to second position in BARC’s chart under the category ‘Across All Genres’ with 881 million impressions for Week 20 (14-20 May, 2016) ,after topping the chart last week with 944 million impressions. The viewership is similar to that of Week 18 where it held second position. Sun TV returned back at claiming the first position with 950 million impressions.
It goes without saying that the pattern of early weekend matches (the one between Royal Challengers and Gujarat Lions on May 14 and that between Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 15), garnering lower viewership continued.
