The viewership of the entire season of IPL season 8 (60 matches) increased by 20 percent. According to TAM data CS4+ All India markets on Sony Max, Sony Six, Sony Six HD, Sony Aath and Sony Aath, the average viewership of IPL 8 increased to 3.8 TVRs from 3.1 TVRs in IPL 7. The average TVTs also increased by 21% from 10,151 TVTs in IPL 8 from 8,366 TVTs in IPL 7.
The time spent on viewers per match was 9 percent more when compared to IPL 7. While IPL 7 the time spent per viewer per match was 42 minutes and 24 seconds which increased to 46 minutes and 17 seconds during IPL 8. IPL 8 in terms reach was sampled by 192 million unique viewers. This was from 191 million viewers during IPL 7. During the 60 matches 71% of the All India Universe tuned in to watch IPL 8.
The last viewership for the last four matches scored much higher ratings. While the qualifier match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings brought in ratings of 5.5 TVRs, the second qualifier match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings brought in ratings of 5.6 TVRs. The match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore brought in ratings of 4.9 TVRs. The final match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings brought in ratings of 7.4 TVRs.
