VSNL plans to launch DTH throughout the country by year end

Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) plans to launch direct to home (DTH) service throughout the country by the end of this year. VSNL is awaiting clearance from the Government in this regard and once it is availed, the company will launch a drive to market DTH services. Apart from television service, DTH would also offer Internet service in one or two channels.

VSNL has received necessary approvals to offer Internet service in 12 more cities in the country by this year. It currently offers such services only in six cities.

In the current year, VSNL is likely to make a profit of Rs 1,300-1,400 crore, as there has been an 15-20 per cent increase in business volumes.
