STAR Television's venture in the South, Vijay TV, will showcase a range of new programmes from the first week of October. It includes daily and weekly soap operas, comedy shows, film-based programmes, mythologicals, news and current affairs.
Film actress Khushbu will make her debut in a daily soap titled, Marumagal. Vijay TV claims to have roped in the best talent from the film industry to offer quality programmes to the Tamil audience.
Mr Suresh Iyer, Programming Head, Vijay TV, said Vijay TV has partnered with the best production houses to create these programmes. Explaining the concept of its programming, Mr Ajay Vidyasagar, General Manager, Vijay TV, said,``The programmes will focus on families, with the housewives being the epicentre.''
Star TV's strength in packaging and presentation will bring a qualitative difference to television programming in Tamil Nadu.
With Sun TV holding the top position, Vijay TV aims to occupy the second slot in terms of viewership among the television channels in the State.
Min Bimbangal, a production company, will provide content for Vijay TV's breakfast news Mudal Pradhi. This news capsule will provide local information such as train timings and weather from towns across the State.
Vijay TV reaches 5.9 million cable and satellite (C&S) homes in Tamil Nadu.
