Uday TV signs up for adapting Bengali serial

Uday TV, a member of the Chennai-based Sun TV group will beam a 520-episode serial called Matrubhoomi. This serial is based on Bengali soap, Janmabhumi, currently being beamed on Doordarshan Calcutta and the Bengali satellite channel, DD 7. The serial will go on air from January 15, 2001, with each episode running for 27 minutes between 3-30 and 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Janmabhumi is now one of Calcutta Doordarshan’s milch cows, raking in revenues of around Rs 3.1 lakh per day, five days a week.
