To improve fortunes, Zee goes back to epics

In a move to improve its fortunes, Zee is falling back on the gods and has commissioned BR Chopra and Sanjay Khan to produce new editions of Ramayan and Mahabharat respectively. The new versions is expected to have lot more special effects and would be technically far superior to the earlier series, which was aired on Doordarshan in the early nineties.

Although the time of launch and the slots for the two new series are still being worked out, Zee is angling a prime time slot.

According to Zee Telefilms, the relaunch its flagship channel Zee TV about two months ago has started showing results with seven out of the 24 programmes launched in end-August breaking into the top 50 rankings and another four poised to make their entry into the list.

Zee has also lined up a new reality show—‘RAAH—Romance Adventure Aap Aur Hum’, which is expected to go on air by next month.

On the interactive show Aap Jo Bolein Haan To Haan, Aap Jo Bolein Naa To Naa, which was pitched as the channel driver, was a bit disappointed with the initial response, and is looking at ways to promote it and pull up its TRPs.
