Star TV plans to liven up its weekend schedule with a string of new programmes as it seeks to build on its hugely successful weekday lineup of soaps and gameshows. The channel will air six new shows, starting July 8, featuring a mix of dance, horror, travel, music, games and mythology.
Star's shows aired from Monday to Thursday rate among the top three of the 10 in the weekly television rating chart.
The channel's prime-time slot on Friday at 8 p.m. will feature Bollywood star Sonali Bendre anchoring a one-hour fun-and-dance talent show Kya Masti Kya Dhoom.

The channel's Sunday morning menu ranges from the travel show, Musafir Hoon Yaaron hosted by model-actress Deepti Bhatnagar who takes viewers globe-trotting to a mythological programme featuring a pantheon of Hindu gods.
