STAR takes away news programmes from Star World

STAR India has taken away the news programmes from Star World and transferred them to the 24-hour news channel Star News. The NDTV-produced prime time news at 9 p.m. had initially been taken off Star Plus.

STAR India has also started a new Hindi news band on Star News from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. The programme that has been chalked out for this slot are Star News in Hindi at 5.30 p.m., Bollywood Samachar at 6 p.m., Star Bazar at 6.30 p.m., the main Hindi news at 7 p.m., Star Khel Samachar at 7.30 p.m.

According to media analysts: “With competition among the various news channels hotting up, Star has to shift gear and strengthen its prime time slot. With the prime time English news available on Star World the viewers tend to watch that channel instead of the news channel.
