STAR in talk with BPL for DTH foray

STAR Group is in talks with electronics major BPL Limited for the latter’s initiative in the direct-to-home (DTH) arena. Both the parties are believed to be looking at possible tie-ups in using BPL’s manufacturing capabilities to build hardware for DTH, primarily set-top boxes and DTH-enabled television.

In a highly classified two-day visit to Bangalore, James Murdoch had a luncheon meeting with Ajit Nambiar, chairman and managing director, BPL Ltd.

According to industry sources, preliminary talks between the two companies have taken place. STAR is talking to various large electronics goods companies for manufacture of DTH hardware.
