The Central Bureau of Investigation’s report on match-fixing has not only spelt doom for cricketing careers of the guilty, but may well put an end to their careers as brand ambassadors too. United Breweries’ Kingfisher brand has already suspended its television campaign with Ajay Jadeja. Kingfisher has a five year contract with Jadeja and two years of which are yet to be over. Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) said that they will be very careful in appointing cricketers as brand ambassadors in the future spokesperson. Pepsi which has a close association with cricket claims that its association with the game will not be affected by the controversy and it will not hesitate to appoint cricketers as brand ambassadors. The charges against Azhar have also disturbed the Swatch applecart. Azhar endorses the Tissot brand for the Swatch Group. Though no decision has been taken about terminating the contract, the company is in frantic consultations with its office in Singapore to arrive at a conclusion.
