Raj TV plans to launch 24-hour Telugu channel

Raj Television Network plans to launch a 24- hour Telugu entertainment channel. This will be in addition to Raj TV and Raj Digital Plus, the network’s Tamil channels.

The channel’s launch was originally scheduled for this December. The delay in the launch has been attributed to the lukewarm market conditions where larger networks have been deferring the launch of their regional channels. Raj Network is currently in talks with companies in Hyderabad to provide content for the new channel.

The market for Telugu satellite channels is currently occupied by ETV, Gemini and Teja. While ETV is promoted by Ramoji Rao, the other two are part of the Sun Network. Industry observers say the advertising markets for Telugu channels is in the region of Rs 200 crores. According to industry sources, Jaya TV also plans to launch a Telugu channel .
