Radio Mirchi launched in Indore

The Entertainment Network (India) Limited (ENIL), has launched Radio Mirchi, the new incarnation of Times FM in Indore yesterday. Indore is among 12 cities where the ENIL is planning to start Radio Mirchi station.

The Times Group entered the business of FM Radio, after the government decided to open the sector to private players. Despite fierce competition from other private players, the Times FM was launched in all the metro cities in 1993. It managed to earn 74 per cent of total revenue in this business.

Radio Mirchi centre has been set up in Indore in an area of 8000-9000 sq. ft at the Industry house. The station of Radio Mirchi is equipped with state-of-the-art –technology. A transmitter with a capacity of 10 kw has been set up atop the towering Industry House, which will enable people living within an aerial distance of 75 kms to listen to the programmes.

Radio Mirchi programme will comprise primarily of Hindi music, jokes, Bollywood gossip, local tit-bits, live interview with celebrities and Timeless classic at 11 p.m.

Radio Mirchi received over 700 phone calls within couple of hours of is launch. The inaugural ceremony of Radio Mirchi at Hotel Taj Residency in Indore was attended by glaxy of media people, representatives of corporate houses, intellectuals, besides students of various educational institutes of the City.
