Pritish Nandy Communication yet to take a decision on Metro Channel bid

Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) hasn’t decided on whether it should bid for the Metro Channel’s bid for the 7 pm slot. Last time, when PNC turned out to be the only bidder for the late night Metro slots, its bid was not considered by the public broadcaster on the plea that it was the sole bidder.

Now with DD and Nine Network, which occupies the 7 to 10 pm slot on DD Metro, failing to arrive at a consensus, all the slots on the channel from 7 pm onwards will be open for bidding.

While channels such as Star and Sony Entertainment Television are reportedly interested in getting slots on DD Metro, PNC is still weighing its options.

According to a DD official, there’s no minimum guarantee for the DD Metro annual bids this time. The floor prices have been fixed separately for each slot. For the 7 to 8 p.m slot, the floor price has been fixed at Rs 22.5 crore; for the 8 to 9 p.m slot, it is Rs 32.5 crore; for 9 to 10 p.m, it’s Rs 42.5 crore; for 10 to 11 p.m, the price is Rs 17.5 crore. From 11 p.m onwards, no floor price has been set.

While companies can submit their bids till June 18, the pre-qualification technical bid will be opened the same day. The financial bid will be opened the following day.
