Prasar Bharati yet to receive any proposal for long term DD Metro slots

Prasar Bharati has not received any proposals from satellite channels to take long-term slots on DD Metro, according to the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Ms Sushma Swaraj. The minister said this in a written reply to Rajya Sabha on Monday.

Several broadcasters including Star and Sony Entertainment Television has gone on record saying that they are keen on taking slots on DD Metro. Nine Network Australia, is also eager to get into a long-term contract with the national broadcaster.

The minister also said that Prasar Bharati has initiated steps to increase its revenue generation. The steps include adopting a more market friendly approach towards producers, advertisers, advertising agencies and sponsoring bodies. To ensure effective marketing Ms Swaraj said an in-house marketing wing would be set up in Mumbai soon.
