Nine Gold plans to forge alliance with southern channels

Nine Gold, is weighing the possibilities of enhancing its presence in South India by forging an alliance with some regional channels like Sun and Vijay TV. The alliance formed could range from a revenue sharing arrangement, a royalty fee or even a flat syndication fee, whereby channels will end up buying their programmes.

The brand, introduced under the joint venture company HFCL and Nine Broadcasting, has helped revive Doordarshan viewership in the 7-10 pm slot, raking a revenue worth Rs 121 crore. Now, it is considering stretching its equity in media other than television.
