It’s kids turn to earn Rs 1 crore

Star Plus television is set to launch a version of its blockbuster television quiz show for children next month, offering the same top prize of Rs 1 crore. The telephone lines for would-be contestants in the junior version of "Kaun Banega Crorepati?" would opens today. "Kaun Banega Crorepati Junior", also hosted by Bachchan, will be open to children in the age group 10 to 17.

Star said that winnings between Rs 1,000 and Rs 40,000 would be given as cheques after deduction of tax. Winnings of Rs 80,000 and above would be deposited in a mutual fund, which the children would be able to cash in after three years or when they reach the age of 18, whichever is sooner.
