I&B Ministers to visit UK and France

The Information & Broadcasting Minister, Sushma Swaraj, will be visiting the United Kingdom to understand in greater details the working of BBC (on which Prasar Bharati is modeled), KU-band direct-to-home (DTH) television service and FM radio operations. The minister’s weeklong tour will also take her to France during the Cannes Film Festival where India will have a strong participation.

In France, Swaraj is scheduled to meet the French minister of culture and communications, Catherine Tasca, to discuss issues like Indo-French co-productions and promoting India as a destination for film shooting and also potential investors who can be lured to invest in the entertainment sector in India.

The Indian pavilion at the Cannes will screen 24 Indian films, which include Daman and Train to Pakistan.
