I&B Minister rules out foreign media entry, tie-ups

The Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Ms Sushma Swaraj, has reiterated that the Government would neither permit entry of foreign print media nor allow any collaboration with foreign partners in this field. She said that the Government would abide by the Union Government’s resolution to this effect in 1995.

The controversy was raised afresh after media reports that Mid-Day has claimed to have obtained permission from the Reserve Bank of India to sell part of its equity to foreign financial institution investors.
