HC bans cable networks from showing Lagaan, Gadar

The Delhi High Court banned cable operators, their agents and franchisees from showing Lagaan and Gadar-Ek Prem Katha, on their networks. Both the films are scheduled to be released on June 15.

While Lagaan’s producer Reena Dutta Khan had filed a suit against SitiCable, Star Satellite Network, Klin Cable and Industries Media for restraining the telecast of the film, Gadar’s producer Essel Vision, a subsidiary of Zee Telefilms, had named 16 cable operators as respondents.

About six toll free phone numbers will be advertised where complaints of piracy regarding Lagaan can be lodged.

Aamir Khan Productions has also appointed a law firm, which has been involved here in anti-piracy activities on behalf of Motion Pictures Association of America, to monitor any reported case of piracy.
