Home Box Office (HBO) in now planning to air serials, documentaries and concerts to cater variety to Indian viewers. HBO completes one year of operation in India this month. The channel plans to concentrate on increasing our distribution, improve the ratings and build its brand. At present, HBO claims to have a penetration of 10 million cable and satellite households and is keen to take this figure to 15 million.
Mr. James P Marturano, executive vice president, HBO Asia and managing director, HBO South Asia, said that according to a survey, most of the HBO viewers belong to the SEC-A and SEC-B, in the age group of 15 to 40, and the channel has equal ratio of male and female viewers.
HBO is planning to introduce American serials especially for the South Asia feed, keeping the Indian audience in mind. In a month it will introduce an American serial based on the life of traders on the Wall Street called Street.
