FM Players approach I&B ministry for approval

Private FM Players in New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkatta have expressed interest in taking up AIR towers for starting services and have approached the information and broadcasting ministry for approval.

For Mumbai, where the AIR tower is not available, the operators have asked for co-location as an interim arrangement.

According to the I&B officials private FM players have approached them for approval. They will be clearing the locations of the towers and foresee not problem in doing so as these are AIR facilities which are already approved sites.

“Whether the private FM players ultimately go for AIR towers or not is a commercial decision, but it shows that the operators are willing to use the facility” I&B Minister Sushma Swaraj said.
