ESPN Star Sports announce the first winner of ‘Super Selector’

Amit Walinjkar, aged 28, has emerged as the Super Selector for the month of October as he chooses the best team and musters a mind-boggling SuperScore of 3704 point. He gets a free trip to South Africa and an opportunity to comment on the game with Sunil Gavaskar, Geoffrey Boycott and Harsha Bhogle. For the October game, more than 1,18,000 aspirant Super Selectors registered themselves.

Amit Walinjkar’s Dream Team which won him a place among the cricket experts included Gary Kirsten, Sachin Tendulkar, Nick Knight (who was substituted by Harschelle Gibbs), Virender Sehwag, Grand Flower (who was substituted by Saurav Ganguly), Andrew Flower, Jacques Kallis, Shaun Pollock, Makhaya Ntini, Matthew Hoggard (who was substituted by magic-man Justin Kemp) and Martin Suji.

Thrilled with the idea of sharing the ESPN STAR Sports’ commentary box along side the cricketing legends Amit Walinjkar said “This is a kind of prize no amount of money can buy. I will feel immensely proud when I will, in fact, experience that moment. I am looking forward to that”.

According to Manu Sawhney, Managing Director of ESPN Software India Pvt. Ltd., “Super Selector has already set the World Records for the number of entries received as well as for the fastest “sign-up” rate for any similar on-line games conducted in the world. For the October game, more than 1,18,000 aspirant Super Selectors registered themselves to test their cricketing acumen and judgment in just nine days. For this month, the total till date adds up to a phenomenal 220,000”.

Shaun Pollock emerged as the Super International Performer of the month scoring a phenomenal 419 points, closely followed by the Kenyan all rounder Thomas Odoya with 414 points. Highly rated Sachin Tendulkar with 397 points topped batsman while Andrew Flower Grabbed the super spot amongst wicket-keepers with 271 points to his credit.

The Northern India Super Selector is a team of two cousins, Manveet and Harinder, a first year Commerce student from Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce and a 11th Standard Student from Guru Nanak Public High School respectively.

Hosted by Naseeruddin Shah, ESPN STAR Sports Super Selector offers opportunity for cricket fans around the world to prove their cricket knowledge and apply their skills in a first ever, unique and novel game show, where people play a real game by selecting a real team, from among the best in the world, using their knowledge and skills.
