Entertainment industry to present wish list to Finance Minister

I&B minister, Sushma Swaraj will lead the delegation of entertainment industry representatives to make a presentation to Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha today.

Representatives from the broadcasting sector, music industry, film industry, multiplexes association and Consumer Electronics and Television Manufacturers Association (CETMA), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will accompany the I&B minister seeking certain tax concessions for sustaining the growth and will make pre-budget presentations to the finance minister.

According to industry sources, the broadcast sector has requested the removal of service tax on broadcast services, which can adversely affect the industry’s growth. The industry has further sought substantial reduction in import duties on equipment imported for setting up earth-stations, content creation facilities and TV studios.
