EGO 2001 meet begins today

The curtain will go up for EGO 2001, the second global meet of the entertainment and animation industry in the country, in Chennai, with matinee idol Mr. Kamalahasan inaugurating the two-day conference today.

Born last year, the Entertainment Graphics Organisation (EGO) is an annual forum for the global entertainment graphics fraternity to converge to review the technology and trends, the course the industry has taken and identify needs and formulate strategies for the future.

Among other things, the conference would throw open a whole new world of digital technology and solutions for the domestic entertainment industry, besides giving them a chance to interact with the trendsetters in the area. The conference would also bring in business for the domestic entertainment industry both directly and indirectly.

The conference would cover areas ranging from animation, special effects for motion pictures and television, the globalisation of entertainment, film making in the 21st century and new media. Around 300-500 delegates from across the globe is expected to attend the conference. This includes delegates from the US, Canada, Europe, England Japan and other Asia-Pacific Rim countries. Prominent speakers in the seminar would include Mr. Richard Hixson, worldwide head, DCC Segment; Mr. Wayne Flags, President, Worldwide installation, IBM; Mr. Bob Bishop, chairman of SGI, Mr. Bob Higgins, senior vice-president of Sony Entertainment and Mr. Kevin Bennerman, senior vice-president of 20th Century Fox.
