Doordarshan to present annual awards today

Doordarshan annual awards, conceived with an eye to promote creativity in public service broadcasting will be presented today by vice-president Shri. Krishna Kant. The awards have been instituted in more than 30 categories of in-house productions.

Prasar Bharati CEO Anil Baijal hopes that the spirit of competition would help increase the quantity and quality of in-house productions.

The awards would be given away at a three-hour ceremony at Siri Fort, attended by the information and broadcasting minister Sushma Swaraj and minister of state for information and broadcasting Ramesh Bais.

According to industry sources about 150 entries received, no one had qualified for the award in seven of the 30-odd categories.
