Doordarshan is planning to increase the coverage of transmission of its Metro channel with an investment of Rs 400 crores during the Tenth Plan period.
DD Metro’s aim is to reach 75 per cent of the population, with the installation of 100 additional transmitters by the end of the Tenth Plan. It currently covers 34 per cent of the population, with 90 high power transmitters.
DD national network has almost reached its ultimate connectivity with an 89 per cent transmission coverage. It has set up 1,113 transmitters.
Doordarshan is setting up four digital terrestrial transmission centres in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Calcutta by the end of the current financial year.
