DD Mumbai to launch Saap Siddi in Hindi

Doordarshan Kendra Mumbai, the producers of the Marathi game show 'Saap Siddi' (Snakes & Ladders) aired on the Sahayadri cable and satellite channel, will soon start producing the Hindi version of the programme. Marathi comedian Laxmikanth Berde, who hosts the Marathi version of the show, is likely to be replaced by actor Tom Alter for the Hindi version. The Hindi show is likely to go live by April-May 2001. 'Saap-Siddi', the brain child of Mr. Mukesh Sharma, director, Doordarshan Kendra, Mumbai, is a game show based on the philosophy of life. It is a family entertainer in Marathi and the contestants are celebrities from all walks of life. The questions are based on Marathi culture. It is purely based on skills and knowledge. In Hindi too, the game show will be on the same lines. Sharma said they have already shot the pilot with Tom Alter, as the anchor. DD has been able to rope in Videocon and South African Airways as the main sponsors for the show. Doordarshan Kendra Delhi has also evinced interest in producing the game show in other regional languages.
