DD in talks with Zee, Star for DTH

Doordarshan is exploring alliances with media companies for putting together a KU-band direct-to-home (DTH) television platform. Among the companies, which have shown interest, are Star TV and Zee Telefilms.

The alliance with DD for a DTH platform was dwelt upon during separate discussions Star and Zee recently had with Prasar Bharati chief executive RR Shah. It is not yet clear whether DD will go in for an alliance with another broadcaster.

The I&B ministry is in the process of deciding the issue of the 20 per cent cap in consultation with the communications ministry and the wireless advisor before finalising the bye-laws under the DTH policy.
