Andrey Purushottam, who started Asiacontent.com in India, has left the company to join Stracom Worldwide as the head of its Indian operations. Stracom is the media specialist division of Leo Burnett.
A product of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Mr Purushottam spent over a decade in advertising agency Lintas in India and and also headed the agency’s operations in Indonesia. Subsequently, he was heading Lintas’ overall strategic media planning and buying operations in India.
Stracom MediaVest Group (SMG), the holding company of Stracom Worldwide, is the largest media buying and planning group worldwide with annual revenues in excess of $15 billion. Stracom’s clients in India include Fiat, Toyota, Hitachi, Heinz, Dabur, Balsara, Procter & Gamble and ICICI.
While Stracom currently handles the media planning and buying for Leo Burnett and Orchard in India, industry sources say that it will also be handling the clients of Ambience D’Arcy in a few weeks. This will bring to its fold clients like the JK Group, Westside, Tata Press Yellow Pages and Click. Stracom by itself is one of the largest television media buyers in Mumbai.
