Advertising agencies to focus on news channels

In the wake of the terrorist attacks in the US, leading media buying agencies are now charting out new plans with an emphasis on major news channels such as Aaj Tak, Star News and Zee news. The rationale behind the shift in focus is the growing viewership for news channels.

The rationale behind the shift in focus is the growing viewership for news channels ever since the terrorist attacks in US. With the result, people are hungry for news and views on television.

In fact, soon after the attack in Manhattan, channels such as CNN and BBC almost stopped beaming television commercials (TVC) in between their news capsules. In accordance with the global trend, some Indian advertising agencies also had for a short while stopped booking spots on news channels such as Zee News, Star News and Aaj Tak.

According to industry sources currently there is an avid interest among viewers to watch news channels. Hence, media planners are now shifting their focus to news channels. The recent TRP shows an audience growth in news channels like BBC, Aaj Tak, CNBC and CNN. Looking at this trend agencies are recommending these channels to their clients.
