Pehchan honours eminent personalities at the 7th Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Awards

Pehchan, an NGO, is an initiative of a group of media professionals and was founded by Shri D S Mendhiratta with the central objective of nurturing the girl child and empowering women through education. Pehchan organised the 7th Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Awards evening at India Habitat Centre to Honor the Achievers from different sections of society. Pehchan strongly believes that the pen is mightier than the sword, and that a girl’s biggest armour against all the hardships is empowerment. And empowerment and education go hand in hand. With this goal in mind, Pehchan strives to provide a strong foundation in the form of education and support to girls and uneducated women.

Since our Late Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi was a sincere supporter of the girl child, these awards have been instituted in his name to honour and cherish his fond memory. These awards, year after year, will identify and honour outstanding personalities who have created a niche for themselves in the society and inspire others to follow suit.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was Kumari Selja, MP and Former Minister Govt.of India. The Guests of Honours were  H.E.Elizabeth Paula Napeyok - Ambassador of Uganda, Major Dalbir Singh - National Secretary AICC and Patron – Pehchan, Khursheed Ahmed Saiyed - Former Head AICC (Minority Department).
