North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta joins Red FM’s fight against mosquitoes

In order to combat the spread of mosquitoes and related diseases in Delhi, Red FM Delhi has launched the ‘Red FM Bajaa, Machchar Bhagaa’ campaign.

Part of the initiative was a mass fumigation drive organized jointly by the radio station and North Delhi Mayor, Ravinder Gupta. The event was held in Karol Bagh, Sant Nagar.

Earlier RED FM had asked its listeners to click the selfies of locations prone of mosquito breeding. The top locations were selected basis the maximum no. of requests received from a particular location.

In another unique part of the initiative, the radio station mixed a sound along with the music played on-air at a certain frequency between 14 kHz to 20 kHz. The frequency resembles the sound of the flapping wings of a dragonfly, a predator of mosquitoes. On hearing the sound mosquitoes tend to leave the area as a means of escape from the dragonfly.
