A new app starring Cartoon Network’s popular action hero Ben 10 has shot to the top of the iTunes Store, achieving almost half a million downloads in its first two weeks across Asia Pacific, with more than 30,521 downloads from India. Released on July 25, ‘Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Xenodrome’ is already topping the charts for iPad and iPhone games, as screen-hopping kids download the ultimate power-up for their device.
By August 26, the free app had garnered 467,000 regional downloads just through Apple’s App Store. It secured top-10 rankings for overall and games apps in at least 20 countries, including India, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
Mark Counsell, Turner’s Associate Director of Interactive Media, said, “For kids around Asia Pacific, Ben 10 remains the ultimate superhero. These phenomenal download figures show the franchise’s enduring popularity and that Ben 10 fans just can’t get enough of his alien-morphing antics. The app’s gameplay is the perfect complement to the TV series and features intense turn-based combat encounters, with victory unlocking new challenges to keep fans on the edge of their seat.”
The game is based on the ‘Ben 10: Ultimate Alien’ animated series, featuring superhero sensation Ben Tennyson who can transform into superhuman alien beings. Players must use these alien forms – each with unique powers, strengths and weaknesses – to stop the evil Aggregor and other nefarious villains across the galaxy.
The game’s extensive upgrade system allows players to customise their heroes and test their skills in the single-player story mode or against other players connected via Bluetooth.
‘Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Xenodrome’ is developed by TurnOut Ventures, a joint venture between Turner and Outblaze Investments Limited.
The app is available for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices through iTunes and via CartoonNetworkAsia.com in English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Thai and Bahasa Indonesia. The version for Android devices will be available from Google Play in September.
