Indigo 91.9 attempted to create the largest digitally sourced karaoke video.

On World Music Day, it was music for the people, by the people all the way at Indigo 91.9, the radio station for a Fun Young Bangalore and Goa. Known for their trend-setting digital outreach activations, Indigo 91.9 reached out to their audience on social media by inviting them to sing and make the day more musical. For the first time ever, the radio station attempted to create the largest digitally sourced karaoke video, aiming at 919 entries. Out of the entries received from fans and listeners, the lucky ones were picked who got to be featured in the video. A final compilation was posted on Indigo 91.9’s social media handles, showcasing them singing to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’.

In addition, Indigo 91.9 brought radio presenters from around the world together on a single platform. Through-out the day, radio presenters converged on-air on Indigo 91.9, as listeners got a chance to listen to the top songs trending across the globe. Celebrating all things music, the line-up of presenters included USA’s Ryan Seacrest, Australia’s Joel Carnegie, Canada’s Blair Henatyzen and many more from across countries like France, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, Sri Lanka and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Satyanarayana Murthy, CEO, remarked, “While music is at the core of our programming, we are also high on creating aspirational experiences for our large audience base. We have set a trend with our digital amplification and innovative content creation, which has helped us create so many firsts. For this World Music Day, we were keen to bring world music closer to our listeners and what better way than to have radio presenters talk about the music in their respective countries. Our engagement on digital is trendsetting and the high number of karaoke videos we received from fans bear testimony to that. It is an exciting journey and we are keen to generate more aspirational and experiential content for our listeners and fans.”

This is not the first time that Indigo 91.9 has gone big in celebrating World Music Day. Last year, for the first time ever, RJs from the radio station came together to form a band and perform live in front of a packed audience.  The RJs and the team from Indigo 91.9 put together a memorable show at Bangalore’s favorite music and entertainment destination – Indigo Live Music Bar and were featured in the Limca Book of Records for the same.
